BlurbLaying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life.

During the holiday break, I saw this book as one of the Kindle Daily Deals and for $1.99 I just couldn't pass it up! The second in the series, Scent of Magic, was released December 16, 2012 and is available at B&N and Amazon.

Touch of Power begins with our heroine healing a young girl in a world where Healers are hunted, executed, and feared. She has been running for three years, from town to town, healing when she can and knowing as soon as she does, she must run again.

In the not-so-distant past, Healers were respected and appreciated until they were deemed useless when unable to eliminate the plague wrought on The Fifteen Realms. So, quickly made the villain, they were slain, bounties were raised, and Avry's life was forever changed.

Soon after her most recent healing, Avry is turned into the guard, by the parents of the little girl she saved, and sentenced to death. And this is where Avry is "kidnapped" by the terrifically warm, frustrating, and lovable characters in our story.

I adored Avry. She is a strong-minded heroine who refuses to allow anyone to negate or control her power. She makes her own choices and is constantly thinking ahead. The reader is easily attracted to her humor and honesty but also her rationality and intelligence from start to finish. That's not to say that she isn't distracted by a nice upper body every now and again. ;)

Touch of Power is an amazing adventure filled with natural emotional growth, epic adventure, and the healing power of love and friendship. Ms. Snyder creates beautiful imagery throughout the journey but even more than that, her character development is simply astounding. This is a book that refuses to be put down, with multiple plot twists and a creative flow leaving the reader engrossed in its world and  fiending for more.
