BlurbFast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with "My buddies and I were out drinking one night," to the egotistical "B" celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC's, FWD's and inadvertent Reply to All's, readers will root for Renee to "click" with the right man.

This was a super fun, easy, and light-hearted read with it's honest voice and captivating humor. From page email one I enjoyed the voice of Renee, Mark, Shelley, and even "oh-that-friend" Ashley.

I think that the blurb perfectly summarizes this book, leaving me with just my reaction and a few tidbits.

I was not expecting to be a fan of the back and forth emails, thinking I'd miss "real" communication from "real-life" conversations, but Ms. Becker quickly and effortlessly changed my mind. The reader develops an understanding that we are going to miss the actual first date, but we know, that like a best friend, it's going to be much more amusing to listen to the aftermath.

I easily connected to each of the characters and enjoyed being given a unique voyeuristic role simply reading their correspondence to each other - which totally played into my *gasp* nosy and gossipy side. It was more than amusing watching everything unfold, like the repercussions after clicking a "reply to" instead of "forward to" and the unbridled thoughts documented *for your eyes only*.

Renee's maturation throughout this book was pleasant to see, seeing how great friends can just build a person up when they need it most. My favorite part of this book was the rambling and jabbing two girl friends can have after an eventful sexapade. I think every woman can relate to these characters, even if you haven't entered the world of online dating.

But this book is more than just random humorous emails between friends. There is a plot filled with real life problems, internet crazies and uncovering just what the heck does a girl does when she may have met the love of her life.

Overall, this is a book I'm pleased to have on my shelves. I will definitely suggest this light-hearted read to many of my girlfriends - including you! So grab a glass of wine (maybe a can of frosting!) and delve into a hilarious and moving journey of a character too real not to route for.

  1. Well, there's a series with text messages as the format, there's the long history of novels by letters - so it's only fitting that a novel be written with e-mails! Sounds like a fun read! enjoy.
